Learn how to teach computer to do cool things using Python. Get ready for the Mass Science Fair. Meet old and make new friends. Have fun!
Get Your Child Ready For The Future
`Machine learning is all around us. We all use machine learning systems every day – such as spam filters, recommendation engines, language translation services, chatbots and digital assistants, search engines, and fraud detection systems. It will soon be normal for machine learning systems to drive our cars, and help doctors to diagnose and treat our illnesses. It's important that kids are aware of how our world works. The best way to understand the capabilities and implications is to be able to build with this technology for themselves.` – Dale Lane, IBM
Learning by Doing
When kids make something, they get excited! Our syllabus is divided into projects; each eventually becomes a product kids can share with family and friends. Why project-based learning? Because as students focus on creating a game they can show to their friends, they’re learning other skills necessary for other STEM classes. That's why most of our class time is dedicated to projects rather than lessons. The ML4K training program has 3 major sections: Machine Learning with Scratch (S), Machine Learning with Python (P) and Mass Science Fair Competition preparation (C). Placement to the program is done based on the student's skills . You can find more detailed information below.
Machine Learning with Scratch
We'll start the training course by learning how to teach computer to play Rock, Paper, Scissors and recognize cartoon characters.
- 12 classes per course. Suggested for grades 2-5. Classes meet weekly on Tuesdays.
Python for Machine Learning
After learning the basic concepts, we will move to working with popular modern machine learning frameworks.
- 12 classes per course. Suggested for grades 6-12. Classes meet weekly on Wednesdays.
AI and Machine Learning
Anyone can do data science and AI! with coding or no coding we will do a lot of visualizations and interactive data exploration! The course will be hands-on.
- 12 classes per course. Suggested for grades 6-12. Classes meet weekly on Wednesdays.
Classes
Python’s easy-to-read syntax makes it a great programming language to start coding for middle school students. Plus, it’s one of the most popular languages for developers. Students practice coding fundamentals through Python that they’ll use as they learn basics of the Artificial Intelligence. Classes meet on Thursdays
Python’s easy-to-read syntax makes it a great programming language to start coding for middle school students. Plus, it’s one of the mot popular languages for developers. Students practice more advanced coding through Python that they’ll use as they learn basics of the data science. Classes meet on Thursdays
Machine Learning with TensorFlow course is a program that teaches the Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence tools that can be used for building ``smart`` machines. Students learn how to use TensorFlow by completing various projects. This is a great program for students, that already have good Python Programming knowledge.
Students of this course will develop new advanced skills, as well as learn how large companies like Google, Amazon and Facebook leverage AI and Machine Learning. Covering hot topics like facial recognition and NLP (Natural Language Processing), this course will equip young learners with key Machine Learning knowledge and skills upon completion.
When curiosity strikes and you want to amp up your skill-set, you learn Machine Learning from scratch using SCRATCH. The best way to learn about new and trending technology? Test it for yourself by creating your own projects using it! More theory and less practical work makes learning dull, but not in this course! Here you will be building your own Machine Learning projects which will give you a better understanding of how the real world works. Classes meet on Tuesdays

Anyone can do data science! After completion of this course you will understand key machine learning algorithms and be able to apply them to a wide range of problems. No coding, no math – just visualizations and interactive data exploration! No prior knowledge on data science, machine learning, or statistics is required. We will emphasize on intuition. The course will be hands-on, we will work on examples and do case studies. Classes meet on Wednesdays.
A science fair is a place for students to present their science projects to professional scientists and to the community. Its main purpose is to get you excited about science by doing it rather than simply learning about it. A scientist first asks a question about some aspect of the world and then tries to find its answer. At the science fair, each student presents a project, both visually and orally, with the question and answer displayed in an interesting way. Students should be able to explain their projects and answer questions. The science fair will also include a science activity expo, where students will have an opportunity to see and interact with cool technologies, devices, and scientists.
